# Simple Equations Module 2

## Keep up the good work.

### #1. p/4 = 32

p/4 = 32

Multiply both sides by 4

p/4 × 4 = 32 × 4

p = 128

### #2. Darasimi made 246 cupcakes. If she puts 4 chocolate chips on each cupcake, how many chocolate chips were used in total?

Let the total number of chocolate chips used be r

286 × 4 = r

984 = r

### #3. 4 times a number is 64, what is the number?

Let the number be v

4v = 64

Divide both sides by 4

4v/4 = 64/4

v = 16

### #4. 4597 – a = 3890

4597 – a = 3890

4597 – a † a = 3890 † a

4597 = 3890 † a

Subtract 3890 from both sides

4597 – 3890 = a

707 = a

### #5. w – 478 = 205

w – 478 = 205

w – 478 † 478 = 205 † 478

w = 683

### #6. s + 99 = 127.8

s † 99 = 127.8

Subtract 99 from both sides

s † 99 – 99 = 127.8 -99

s = 28.8

### #7. 7 times a number is 406. Find the number.

Let the number be g

7g = 406

Divide both sides by 7

7g/7 = 406/7

g = 58

### #8. 6k = 96

6k = 96

Divide both sides by 6

6k/6 = 96/6

k = 16

### #9. 12z = 120

12z = 120

Divide both sides by 12

12z/12 = 120/12

z = 10

### #10. If I add 28 to a number, the result is 57. What is the number?

Let the number be f

28 f = 57

Subtract 28 from both sides

28 † f – 28 = 57 – 28

f = 29

### #11. Ramsum was told to cut out 721 butterflies on paper. If he has cut 402 butterflies out, how many butterflies are left to cut out?

Let the butterflies left be u

u = 721 – 402

u = 319

### #12. 4683 + g = 9377

4683 † g = 9377

Subtract 4683 from both sides

4683 † g – 4683 = 9377 – 4683

g = 4694

### #13. e + 529 = 2547

e † 529 = 2547

Subtract 529 from both sides

e † 529 – 529 = 2547 – 529

e = 2018

### #14. m – 0 = 39

m – 0 = 39

m – 0 † 0 = 39 † 0

m = 39

### #15. 4d = 60

4d = 60
Divide both sides by 4
4d/4 = 60/4
d = 15

### #16. If I subtract 74 from a number, the result is 49. What is the number?

Let the number be w

w – 74 = 49

w – 74 † 74 = 49 † 74

w = 123

### #17. If half of a number is 125, find the number

Let the number be n

½(n) = 125

Multiply both side by 2

½ n × 2 = 125 × 2

n = 250

### #18. b /3 = 25

1/3b = 25

Multiply both sides by 3

1/3b × 3 = 25 × 3

b = 75

### #19. Layodd bought 3800m of fabric. If she shares the fabric among 5 retail traders, how many metres of fabric did each retail trader get? (Hint: Don’t forget your unit)

Let the fabric gotten by each reader be x

3800 ÷ 5 = x

3800m/5 = x

760m = x

### #20. What must be added to 157 to make 647

Let the number be e

157 † e = 647

Subtract 157 from both sides

157 † e – 157 = 647 – 157

e = 490
